Running Long Distances

Planning to have the time available to run long distances seems to take as much time as the running of the longer distances themselves.

Today I ran 13.0 miles for the first time since 2001.

I was somewhat apprehensive about running 13.0 miles on a Sunday morning but its the only time both work and family commitments wane.

After running, I soaked my feet in cold water and took an ice cold shower.

Combined these two actions brought my core temperature down and reinvigorated me.

I then went and played a set of tennis with my oldest son.

Today was the first time I had swung a tennis racket – let alone played a set of Tennis – in over 20 years.
